National Honor Society

National Honor society is an organization that students can join who meet certain qualifications

What is the National Honor Society? 

The National Honor Society (NHS) was established in 1921. The organization was created by Dr. Edward Rynearson, who was looking to ignite excitement in the academic world and provide oppurtunities for students to not only succeed academically but to provide the students with the chance to grow thier leadership skills, service for others, and character development. 

What are the qualifications needed to be apart of the program?

Students must meet the requirements of their local school chapter. These requirements may include: 

  • Service: A minimum number of hours of community or school service 
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership experience in the school or community 
  • Character: Meeting requirements that demonstrate good character
  • GPA: A minimum GPA of 3.0, though some chapters may have higher requirements
